On an airplane I kept a little ziplock baggy for the extra piece.- The outside stays cold no matter what you put in it so you have to be careful you don't burn yourself and the liquid can be hotter than you think.Overal, this thing is absolutely awesome and I love it to deat. A tiny bit will, but not more than you would get using a clay tea pot.On the negative side:- It holds just slightly more than a cup. When you are sipping, the infusor is off. You can use the sippy lid or the infusor lid, but not both at the same time.
On the plus side:- Absolutely 100% waterproof when using the outside lid. For anyone who really likes to drink loose tea, this is a must have item. At home or at the office this is no biggie. The lid is convenient enough to take on and off if you are sipping over a really long period of time.- Keeps things stupid hot for a VERY long time.
So when you are brewing tea, the sippy lid is off. I don't know how I survived without it. Recently used it on cross-country flights and I'd have it filled with hot water at a coffee shop at the terminal and it would still be very hot 6+ hours later after getting off the plane.- The tead infusor works VERY well.- Can be used for other drinks besides tea.- If you keep the outer lid on the infusor portion, all your tea remains intact for a second brewing.- Contrary to other reports, I have not had problems with loose tea (I use green tea) getting through the infusor. This is perfect for tea, but not so great for other beverages like coffee or hot apple cider.- There will always be an extra piece.
The insulation is outstanding and it really keeps my tea hot. something I never thought I would do with a travel mug. I've also just thrown it in my backpack along with my books and laptop.
I've recently been switching from drinking coffee to drinking loose leaf green tea, so I wanted a tumbler which also had a tea strainer. I actually like the size since it fits in the side mesh pocket of my backpack very securely. I don't write too many reviews, but this travel mug really blew me away.
It also fit's in car cup holders. I followed everyone's instructions: adding hot water, then tea strainer, then tea, then top lid and then turn upside down.
It really is leakproof, and for as many reviews on this as I've read, I didn't believe it until I used it.
Doesn't leak. Keeps stuff HOT for a LONG TIME. What more could you want. The good stuff other people said. All true.
I will probably buy a couple more because of the great convenience of never having to worry about ice packs or keeping things hot. This was my first Amazon purchase back in 2000 and I remember being hesitant about buying online at that time. Prompt, free shipping, excellent return policy, no CA sales tax and competitive prices mean the best purchasing experience ever. Thank you Amazon and Thermos.
When I bought it 10 years ago in grad school I thought this was an incredibly expensive coffee mug (especially on a grad school budget), but made the purchase anyway hoping it would last. And it has. Sometimes small particles would make it through the mesh, but they usually sank to the bottom. I used to drink my Yerba Mate looseleaf from this and worked well.
Still works fine and I will just re-glue the plastic. size is perfect for everyday use and the tea strainer gives me the option to use it for loose tea when it's not used for other drinks. Since then I have become a Prime member and buy everything I can with Amazon. It really lasts all day at the temperature you start with.I think the 12 oz.
Plus, we will start using them for the kids' milk to keep it cold during the days when we are out and about. Well, with regards to this tea tumbler, it has been durable and only recently the bottom plastic came unglued when my 14 month old dropped it from about 6 feet up onto the concrete sidewalk. I just bought another one since my wife always steals mine.
I put hot tea in around 6am and it's still very hot at 9am when I take my first brake Works fine for the other teas I have. This makes a fantastic thermos. The only problem I've had is that I use a mate lemon grass tea and the strainer isn't fine enough and the tea dosn't get strained.
